What is UCLA Mock Trial?

UCLA Mock Trial entails a combination of competitive public speaking, legal analysis, theatrical presentations, traveling to national points of interest, and long-lasting friendships.

Our program is open to any and all undergraduate students.  We have auditions during October for interested freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors.  While many former high school mockers, actors and speechies end up competing with us, no prior experience is necessary.  We always have a diverse range of majors represented, from English to Neuroscience to Political Science to Musicology.  If you're passionate about something--anything--you'll fit in well here!

Graduates of UCLA Mock Trial currently attend law school at Harvard, Columbia, the University of Michigan, NYU, USC and UCLA.
How successful are we?

Extremely

UCLA Mock Trial has won the national championship three times in the last eight years, beating out over 600 other programs (such as Columbia, Harvard, UVa and NYU) in 2004, 2005 and 2011.   We also won the Downtown Invitational Classic--the Tournament of Champions--in 2012.

We came within one or two ballots from making the final round during the interim years, as well, and routinely qualify both our A and B teams to the national tournament.

We've won 80 individual awards since Fall of 2010 alone, and have had more than 20 of our competitors achieve the ultimate honor of National All-American since our program's creation.

We've also received the Spirit of AMTA award at multiple tournaments, which is given to the team that most exemplifies respect, honor, fair play, kindness, and good humor.

Many of our individual honorees had no prior experience.
